The Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), the Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD – CEBDS Brazil) and the CEO Water Mandate of the UN Global Compact organized the Water Business Day. About 250 participants, mostly from the private sector. With a plenary and 3 parallel workshops, the discussions aimed at reflecting on approaches and solutions to sharing water as a public and scarce good and how the industrial sector could manage the water related risks (physical (availability), regulatory (litigations, increasing water regulations and tariffs) and reputational). In the sessions were highlighted: i) the importance of trust building processes among business, stakeholders and science, ii) transparent information management on water uses for collective decision making; and the key role of policies focused on valuing water and bringing the right water tariffs which, it was repeatedly said, would motivate water use efficiency, treatment and reuse.
|Between the experiences of SDC’s Global Programmes: Water and Climate Change were presented and discussed during the workshops.
