These event is one of the biggest in the world, and it is organized by the World Water Council and in this opportunity, the Brasilian Government.     El Agua nos Une is a public-private partnership aiming at accelerating corporate water stewardship to strengthen water governance and business sustainability. A partnership among: Swiss cooperation, national government institutions, business associations and companies in Colombia, Peru and Chile. From raising companies’ awareness on water related risks to taking action in reducing impacts on water in the production sites and value chains and becoming stewards at the watershed level. 8 years of experience in the development of about 40 cases with main companies from different sectors (food and beverage, agroindustry, cement, paper, electricity, chemicals).

    –  PANEL: Investment on ecosystem services – financial mechanism. Water Benefit Certificates as a conservation strategy for high Andean wetlands (Diego Arévalo GSI-LAC Director)

     MiParamo is a result – based finance mechanism to motivate local families’ involvement in high Andean wetland conservation, in Norte de Santander, Colombia by improving livelihoods and raising their income. An area that provides water for about 1 million people. The initiative aims at strengthening water governance by improving the relation among upstream communities with downstream water users. MiParamo is under development and it is anchored in the Water Fund platform (Alianza BioCuenca), supported by regional authorities, the Swiss Cooperation (SDC), Good Stuff International, GIZ and private sector. This mechanism recognizes the lack of economic opportunities as a driver of environmental degradation.
